North Kohala on the island of Hawaii is located on the Northern slope of Kohala Mountain. It is the oldest area on the "Big Island" of Hawaii where "Kamehameha the Great", who united the islands was born.
The original Statue of Kamehameha, which was lost at sea, then subsequently recovered, sit's less than 1/4 mile from your retreat in the heart of North Kohala.
Mookini Heiau and the birthplace of Kamehameha are situated just 3 miles from the town of Kapa'au on a drive through the historic town of Hawi.
Down the road 4 miles to the east is Pololu Lookout and Valley. The end of the road.
Kohala offers "Plate lunches at the local dinner, or fine cuisine at the Bamboo Restaurant. There are Zipline tours over ravines in the Kohala hills, ATV trail rides, eco tours, a dive shop,  Horseback trail rides on the lush slopes or in Waipio Valley with Na'alapa Stables.

To view our calendar please see VRBO

Kohala Gardens Hideaway is conveniently located at the center of so many Kohala's interesting and fun activities. Kamehameha Day Parade is June 11th annually.
